Although inspired by Dame Cecily, it was Robert's writings that taught me Palliative Care when doing Geriatric Medicine in Liverpool at a time when there was no Palliative Care. His writings, followed me in my teaching in Malaysia, Singapore, Kenya, Uganda and to 34 other countries that we have brought Palliative Care to in Africa since. He has been a major part of our teams working in different countries.

May God reward him for all he has done for the suffering in the world.
