Robert, your legacy is far reaching, you were a pioneering figure in hospice and palliative care. Your groundbreaking work transformed the way patients at the end of life are cared for, especially in pain control, and and your influence and education continue to resonate in palliative care practices worldwide today. I recall how you were personally very kind to me as we started the Cicely Saunders Institute and Cicely Saunders International, joining us at the annual lectures and other events, and inspiring everyone with your wise questions and suggestions.
